Brief introduction
Set up in September 1992, Nanjing Haiguang Applied Chemistry Research Institute, as the subordinate unit of Aosaikang Pharma, is the origin and foundation of Aosaikang¡¯s growing, which pioneered the non-state enterprises in China. The research Institute is a comprehensive institute with expertise technicians in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medicines and other related specialties, which is mainly engaged in R&D of new drugs.

The Research Institute gives priority to the study and development of innovative medication and applied chemistry. Through closed combination of biology and chemistry, the interpretation is made to the structure of biological activity materials, activity as well as the relation between them, which facilitates the fulfillment of research in our applied chemistry, pre-clinical trial program and the research involved in industrialization.

The key subjects and study areas of the Institute are: natural resource chemistry, drug synthetic chemistry, new drug screening (including large-scale high passage screening, new target sites and establishment of new model), pharcology etc. Over the past years, efforts and development have been made in the subjects and fields such as drug pharmaceutics, drug quality control and combinatorial chemistry etc.

Also through closed coordination of internal labs in different subjects, research and development of the institute concentrate on the drugs in the categories of anti-ulcerants, anti-tumor, cardiovascular, antibiotics, anti-bacterials, anti-virus and respiratory system. These years, further efforts was made in the R&D of traditional Chinese medicine, as the result of which, we established Natural Medicines Research Lab.

Over the past ten years plus since the establishment of the institute, sixty plus drugs were developed and put into production among which some are domestically first launched or are of exlusive dosage forms, such as oral cavity mucosal adhesive, external application gels, and the products such as Omeprazole for infusion and Ondansetron Lyophilized power for injection etc. Patents were obtained or under filing for some products.
